Good afternoon, everyone. It’s great to be home in Tucson and with all of you.
First of all, I want to thank Greater Tucson Leadership for having me here today. Your mission – to inspire, develop and promote leadership in the Tucson area – is a mission that I share.
I especially want to thank Executive Director Lea Márquez-Peterson and President Maricela Solis de Kester for all that they do and for inviting me to be with you today.
Before I begin my remarks, there is a young man with us today who serves our country in the United States Air Force.
He is a first lieutenant and a graduate of Catalina High School and Northern Arizona University. He has just returned from duty in Afghanistan where he served with the Joint Operations Task Force.
Before he left Afghanistan he was nominated for a Bronze Star. His current squadron commander rates him in the top 1% of all Second Lieutenants he has seen in his 18-year career.
